Chris Farnell advises leading Premier League and Football League Clubs, leading sporting and media agents and a number of high profile sporting individuals on a wide variety of matters.

Chris’ practice areas include: Sports, Media & Entertainment. He specialises in image rights, third party ownership issues, player transfers, intellectual property contracts, contract re-negotiations, sponsorship and endorsement contracts, defamation, sports dispute resolution, footballer and agent disputes, doping hearings, regulatory issues, and both contentious and non-contentious intellectual property law.

Lois Jarvis


Lois is a senior lawyer specialising in providing advice and guidance in the sports, media and entertainment sectors. Throughout her career Lois has operated at the highest levels within these sectors, providing specialist advice on commercial, contract and governance matters to individuals, clubs, organisations and governing bodies.

Lois’ strength lies in her ability to digest complex information and provide her clients with clear, practical advice to achieve the optimal outcome in all situations.  She is highly skilled at promoting the business needs of her clients, whether private individuals or organisations.

Prior to joining IPS Law in 2020, Lois spent a number of years working within a Premier League football club, during which time she was responsible for heading up their legal and football administration function.  Following, Lois provided consultancy services to a wide range of sport and entertainment clients alongside her role as an Independent Non-Executive Director at British Ice Skating, the Governing Body for ice skating within the United Kingdom.

As well as being an outstanding lawyer with many years of expertise in the sports and entertainment sectors, Lois has undertaken additional specialist qualifications by way of obtaining a master’s degree in sports law and practice which increased her understanding of the specific areas in which she operates.

Emily Pybus


Emily qualified as a solicitor in September 2019 having joined IPS Law in 2018 as trainee solicitor. Before joining IPS Law Emily worked at a specialist legal consultancy specialising in mediation and dispute resolution, providing her with experience in a number of fields including LLP disputes, fraudulent investment schemes and disputed business debts. 

Emily also has experience in civil litigation including high profile malicious prosecutions, committal proceedings, civil recovery cases and a number of judicial reviews. Along with quasi criminal experience which includes assisting in a highly publicised inquest involving complex legal arguments and a number of serious criminal appeals Emily has a wide and varied skill set.

Coming from a sporting background with a family business dedicated to providing educational sports programmes in the community and to premier league clubs, Emily has a keen passion and interest in sports law which has assisted her to develop her knowledge and skills since joining IPS and working with Managing Partner Chris Farnell.
